One of the biggest challenge for any new big goal is just getting started. Specifically fitness, as many worry about how they will compare to others in the gym or even to their own expectations. Most of us are creatures of habit more than we realize so setting a new goal, especially a fitness goal, can go against our normal tendencies. Overthinking is a big problem and probably ends up crushing a lot of goals. Overthinking can completely stop you from moving forward and making progress. My biggest piece of advice is just to do it. Join a gym. Or buy home equipment. Hire a trainer. Or look up your own program. Whatever it is, just do it. That sounds overly simple, but it actually works. Don’t give yourself time to think negative thoughts. Take action and don’t leave any time for doubt to creep in. Once you’ve started, you’ll realize how easy it really was all the time. That’s not to say there won’t be days where you don’t want to continue or don’t want to go to the gym. Everyone has those days. But a year from now when you look back on it, you’ll be glad you made the decision.
